The Ingredients Review: How does Key Nutrients Lights Out do?
There are some good ingredients in this sleep aid, some which can definitely help improve your slumber.
There’s a lot of focus on relaxation in this supplement, and that’s not a bad thing – but it doesn’t directly influence sleep.
Regardless, here’s our full report into the ingredients of Lights Out and anything else you need to know about them:
Valerian
This is an effective start to Key Nutrients Lights Out. Valerian doesn’t actually promote sleep, but it can work in other ways which can support slumber.
How does it work?
Valerian can promote a hormone in your system known as GABA. GABA can improve relaxation and calmness, while reducing anxiety.
Combined, this puts you in a much better mindset for falling asleep when you get into bed. It’s a good nutrient to have in this supplement.
Chamomile & Passion Flower
These are other useful ingredients in this sleep aid. Chamomile and Passion Flower are both good choices in Key Nutrients Lights Out because because they contain Apigenin.
Apigenin is another component which can help improve your overall levels of the hormone GABA. In doing so, it’s good for giving you the better mindset which makes it easier for you to fall asleep.
GABA
The hormone that we’ve been referring to. You know the drill, it gives you a better mindset which makes it easier to sleep.
However, supplementing it directly with Key Nutrients Lights Out may not be a great idea. Not because it’s dangerous, but because it’s difficult for your body to absorb.
This is because raw GABA struggles to cross your blood-brain barrier. If it fails to do so, you’re not going to get the benefits from it, and all your GABA will only come from the precursors in this supplement like the apignenin and valerian.
Hops
This is more of a support to the valerian that’s already in Key Nutrients Lights Out.
Studies usually combine the two as they both can boost GABA levels. Again, like we’ve already mentioned, boosting your GABA levels can support a more relaxed mindset which is more adjusted to getting to sleep faster.
Lemon Balm
Another effective option in Key Nutrients Lights Out.
Lemon Balm has been seen in several studies to help reduce stress while also improving calmness and relaxation.
This again, is another option that set you up for the right mindset after you get into the bed. It doesn’t directly promote sleep, but under the right circumstances it can have a great effect.
5-HTP
This is a much more effective ingredient in Key Nutrients Lights Out. 5-HTP is a form of Tryptophan which can actively improve sleep.
After you absorb this component, your body converts it into serotonin. This gives you a mood boost. After that, the serotonin is converted again into melatonin.
Melatonin is your body’s natural sleep hormone. The more of it you have in your system, the more support you have for a better night’s sleep.
Melatonin
This is your body’s natural sleep hormone: melatonin. It’s a good ingredient in Key Nutrients Lights Out – but we do have a few concerns.
The main issue with melatonin in sleep aids is that it is not always natural. It’s much easier for companies to use artificial melatonin for their supplement. Artificial melatonin is cheaper and easier to use in a supplement.
However, it may not be as effective. Ideally you want to use the real thing. The best way to ensure this is to use a nutrient which has a natural supply of the hormone. Tart Cherry would be a good option for this.
Ingredients Overview: Key Nutrients Lights Out
All in all, there are some good ingredients in here. There’s a lot that contributes to GABA – which is a good support, but there are also several which boost melatonin levels too which will make the most difference.
The main ingredients that will make the most difference here are the 5-HTP and the melatonin.
However, we do want to make sure that the melatonin in here is natural. If it isn’t, we think it should be replaced with Tart Cherry.
We also think magnesium would help a lot here. Mainly because it helps to reduce muscular impulses overnight which can help to prevent you from twitching and jerking yourself awake overnight.
This would definitely help.
Key Nutrients Lights Out Side Effects – Are there any?
Not that we can see, all the ingredients in here don’t have links to causing side effects at these dosages. You shouldn’t run into any issues.
That said, if you have any concerns, you should speak to your doctor before using it.
Summary: Key Nutrients Lights Out
Overall, this isn’t a bad supplement on the market. The 5-HTP and Melatonin are the real stars, but the GABA support helps too.
If we could make any changes, we think adding magnesium would make a lot of difference here. It would reduce involuntary twitches and jerks overnight.
We don’t know whether or not the melatonin in here is natural. By replacing it with Tart Cherry, you ensure a natural supply of the sleep hormone to make sure you get the most benefit.
It’s a good supplement, but Key Nutrients Lights Out isn’t the best that we’ve seen.
