Klova Sleep Patch: The Ingredients
There are several ingredients in Klova Sleep Patch which can help with sleep. What’s interesting is that there are several in here which can also help with mood.
It’s good, but we still think improvements could be made. Below, we look closer at the ingredients in this sleep aid to see how effective it really is.

Hops & Valerian
This is a good start to Klova Sleep Patch, and we’ve grouped both of these ingredients together as they have very similar effects.
They are both used in nighttime teas to promote GABA. It’s also worth noting that they are typically used together as well.
So, what is the advantage of having a higher level of GABA?
GABA is a hormone in your body which helps to reduce anxiety and improve your overall levels of calmness. The benefit of this is that it can give you a better mindset and temperament which can help get you to sleep faster.
It doesn’t directly promote sleep, but if the environment is right (like being in bed), it may help you sleep easier.
This is another good addition to the Klova Sleep Patches. L-Theanine is an amino acid which can help to promote calmness and relaxation.
It does this by increasing your overall levels of GABA. Again, this is another nutrient that works to improve GABA.
This means you’re going to feel more at ease and calm which should help you get ready for sleep.
Good sources of L-Theanine are usually herbs like Green Tea.
This herb is another GABA booster in Klova Sleep Patch. The studies are a bit mixed though.
Skullcap has been seen to help with sedation only in mouse studies – and that’s when the animals were given a generous amount of the herb. The same effects have not scaled up to humans.
That said, it still works well as an anti-anxiety, which can help ‘set the mood’ for bedtime.
This is one of the main ingredients in Klova Sleep Patch. Melatonin is your body’s natural sleep hormone – getting more of it is a good thing.
It’s the hormone your brain releases when it wants to signal to your body that it’s time to go to sleep.
By increasing your overall levels, the extra melatonin can help get you to sleep faster and also for a longer and deeper sleep.
Our only concern here is that if the melatonin in Klova Sleep Patch is natural or not. The real thing is much more effective.
Most health companies usually choose artificial melatonin because it’s easier to come across and cheaper.
If we could make changes to Klova Sleep Patch, we’d suggest switching out the melatonin in here for Montmorency Tart Cherries as they contain a natural supply of melatonin.
This is a good addition to the Klova Sleep Patches as they can help promote your overall levels of natural melatonin.
How does it do this?
After being consumed, 5-HTP is converted by your body into serotonin. This can help promote your mood and outlook – which is good for getting you in the right mindset.
This serotonin is again converted into melatonin. Which gives your body more of the sleep hormone which can help get you slumbering faster.
A hormone we’ve already talked about in this Klova Sleep Patch review. GABA is a hormone in your body that reduces anxiety and promotes calmness.
It’s good for improving your mood, relaxation and getting you in the right mindset for sleep.
However, supplementing it directly isn’t always the best idea.
Why? Because it’s harder for it to cross the blood-brain barrier. Failure to do so means it won’t have any benefit.
It’s better to use precursors like the Valerian and Hops in this sleep aid.
Another herb that is used in nighttime teas. Passion Flower contains a good source of Apigenin – which is a component which promotes GABA.
As we’ve mentioned, GABA is a good source for relaxation and reducing anxiety – which can make your temperament more open to falling asleep when you get into bed.
Cosmoperine (Black Pepper)
This is essentially just black pepper in Klova Sleep Patch. That’s not a bad thing, it can help with absorption.
It can make some of the ingredients in this sleep aid get into your system faster and more effectively.
This makes it a nice support.
Ingredient Summary for Klova Sleep Patch
There are some good ingredients in the Klova Sleep Patch. We especially like the 5-HTP and the Melatonin (although we do debate whether or not it is natural melatonin).
The main gist of this sleep aid is that it is a big GABA booster. It’s mainly focused on reducing anxiety and promoting overall calmness which can be great for getting you to sleep after you get into bed.
However, we do think Melatonin boosting is important too.
If we could make changes to this supplement we’d put more focus on that area. Maybe changing the melatonin already in this sleep aid to Montmorency Tart Cherry as that would ensure natural melatonin.
It would also help to use ingredients which can help keep you asleep after you drift off. Magnesium would be good for this, it helps to reduce muscle impulses overnight which helps prevent twitches and jerks.
If all these areas were taken care of this, would be a really effective sleep aid – it’s still good, but it could be better.
Klova Sleep Patch Side Effects – Is it safe to use?
As long as you use it as recommended (1 patch a night) you shouldn’t run into any problems.
All the ingredients here are at safe dosages that haven’t been linked to causing side effects.
That said, if you have any concerns, you should speak to your doctor before using it.
Klova Sleep Patch Summary
This is a good sleep aid. Although the majority of the ingredients concentrate more on GABA than directly boosting and promoting sleep – it still has some good benefits.
The one thing we would say is that we have our concerns about the melatonin being natural and that it would be good to see some magnesium in here to help prevent overnight disturbances.
Aside from that, these patches have plenty going for them.
