Nature’s Bounty Melatonin: The Ingredients
It’s a melatonin supplement, so there’s only one ingredient.
This has both good and bad sides to it. On the good side, you know exactly what you’re getting in terms of dosages.
On the bad side, it may not be enough to get you to an effective night’s sleep.
Below, we look at more angles on this supplement and determine if it’s right for you:
Melatonin
The only ingredient in Nature’s Bounty Melatonin, but it is tried and tested.
Melatonin is your body’s natural sleep hormone. It’s released from the pineal gland in your brain and is the signal to your body that it’s time to go to sleep.
Supplementing it is a good idea if you want to improve your overall levels of melatonin and increase your the probability of faster onset sleep. It can also improve the overall duration and quality of the sleep too.
One thing we would say is that there’s not a lot of information to show that this melatonin is natural.
The problem with this is that there’s a chance that this is artificial melatonin. This could be an issue as it’s not as effective as natural melatonin.
Ideally, you want the sleep hormone taken from a natural source. It would be better if instead of melatonin in this supplement, it was something like Tart Cherry instead. Tart Cherries contain a natural source of melatonin and ensure that you get the real thing.
It would put our mind at ease if this was the case instead of mystery melatonin.
Ingredient Summary
As you can see, the only ingredient in Nature’s Bounty Melatonin is the melatonin itself.
This is not surprising – but it may not be as effective as you think. The problem is that the melatonin in here may not be natural.
Don’t get us wrong, it should still help you to sleep – but we know that the real thing is more effective than the artificial counterpart.
This is why we suggest using Tart Cherry. They are packed with natural melatonin which can help improve your overall levels of the sleep hormone and even provide you with other benefits.
We also think something like L-Tryptophan would help here too. Your body converts it into 5-HTP and then again into serotonin (which helps to promote your mood) after this it finally converts to natural melatonin. This again is a huge positive for your sleep.
Finally, we think it would also help if there was some magnesium in here. It could help to reduce overnight twitches and jerks by how it relaxes muscular impulses. This could help you to sleep better and undisturbed overnight.
Nature’s Bounty Melatonin Side Effects – Are there any?
We don’t think so. There’s only one ingredient in here and it’s sensibly dosed. Use it as recommended and you shouldn’t run into any problems.
If you have any concerns you should speak to your doctor before using it. This is always the best way to go about it.
It should be fine though.
Nature’s Bounty Melatonin Summary
At the end of the day, this is a melatonin supplement. It can promote sleep, but you do have to wonder if it is artificial melatonin or not.
This won’t have too much of an effect – but natural would be better.
Tart Cherry would be a better choice and L-Tryptophan would really help to increase your overall levels. Then again, if you want something like that you would need to increase your budget for sleep supplements.
