Our assessment of the Organic India Peaceful Sleep ingredients
There’s only three ingredients in this supplement. That’s always a bold move by a supplement company, because each ingredient has to be well-dosed and aggressively tested.
Unfortunately, we don’t think we saw that in Organic India Peaceful Sleep. The ingredients do have some merit for promoting sleep, but there are certain areas within them that let them down.
Below, we’ve written up our full evaluation of the ingredients in this supplement, along with our take and how they could be improved.
What’s good however, is that there are no proprietary blends in here. Nothing is hidden, and Organic India are direct and up-front about what exactly goes into this supplement.
Here’s all the key information:
Gotu Kola
This is a nice thought for Organic India Peaceful Sleep, but are concerned about the dosage – it may not be enough.
Usually Gotu Kola is used in supplements like nootropics and is seen to work as a cognitive enhancer. However, there is some evidence that it can help to reduce anxiety levels too.
Reducing anxiety is a great way to make sleep easier. It can help reduce any negative feelings and promote an overall sense of calm. In doing so, this can make it easier for you to fall asleep as you have a much better state of mind.
However, our concern here is with the dosage. The study where Gotu Kola helped to reduce anxiety involved two 500mg doses on a daily basis. That’s 1000mg a day, Organic India Peaceful Sleep has less than half of that.
It may not have as much as you need to see experience desirable effects.
Ashwagandha
This is a much safer bet in this supplement. It’s always good to see Ashwagandha in a sleep supplement, and Organic India Peaceful Sleep is no exception.
So, how does it work?
Ashwagandha is an anti-stress herb. Studies show that supplementing it can help to reduce your overall levels of your body’s stress hormone cortisol.
When your cortisol levels are high, not only do you feel more anxious and distracted – you also struggle to sleep.
It’s difficult to drift off when you’re under a lot of pressure. Ashwagandha helps to solve this problem, by reducing your overall levels of the stress hormone cortisol, Ashwagandha can help to clear your mind and make it easier for you to get to sleep.
It’s a good ingredient in this supplement for giving you a better hormonal balance that promotes rest.
Krishna Tulsi Leaf
The final ingredient in Organic India Peaceful Sleep which may or may not work.
What makes us say this? Because there are conflicting studies. The main claim that we want to be true here is that Krishna Tulsi Leaf reduces anxiety. Currently there are around 3 clinical studies which show it do to this to a significant to degree, albeit when taking the herb in high doses over a long period of time.
However, there is another study out there which shows it didn’t have any impact on reducing stress and anxiety, and any benefits caused by the herb wore off after two weeks – it was easy to gain a tolerance too.
Although the good outweighs the bad at the moment, we still feel that more research needs to be done to say for certain that the Krishna Tulsi Leaf works in Organic India Peaceful Sleep.
Ingredient Profile Summary
There’s three ingredients. We’ve seen sleep supplements do this before, only focus on the essentials, and it can either go either way.
In the case of Organic India Peaceful Sleep, we think it needs some revising. The Ashwagandha is great, but the Krishna Tulsi Leaf is potentially unreliable and the Gotu Kola may be under-dosed.
We’d argue Magnesium and Tart Cherries would be better replacements. Magnesium helps because it can relax impulses through your nervous system, this can help prevent involuntary twitches and jerks that may wake you up in the night.
Tart Cherries on the other hand contain natural melatonin. This is your body’s sleep hormone, by giving yourself more of this you can help promote longer, deeper and more satisfying sleep.
We’re surprised there are no melatonin promoters in this supplement. L-Tryptophan would’ve worked too, your body uses it as a precursor to melatonin – which again, is great for sleep.
Is Organic India Peaceful Sleep safe to use? Any side effects?
Not that we’re aware of. All the ingredients in here are completely natural and don’t have links to causing problems.
That said, you can never speak for everyone. Before you use this supplement (or any new supplement for that matter) you should consult with your doctor first.
It would also be a good move to ensure that you don’t have any preexisting conditions which could be negatively affected by taking this supplement.
Organic India Peaceful Sleep Summary
As you can see, Peaceful Sleep is a supplement which has focused on what they believe to be the essential ingredients for long, effective sleep.
We think they’re close, but they may have just missed the mark. With some under-dosing in some cases, and conflicting reports in another – it’s difficult to say this is a good choice for sleep.
We think some revisions are needed to this formula before we start standing by the ingredients in here – or at least some extra ingredients should be added to help support them.
It’s not as good as it could be.
