PRIMAL ONE Sleep Aid’s Ingredients
There are many nutrients in this sleep aid, with some contributing a lot to helping you sleep – and some not so much.
Don’t get us wrong, there’s a lot of good in here. We just think a thing or two could be added to the formula to help strengthen it.
Here’s our write up of the main ingredients:
Magnesium
One of the better ingredients in PRIMAL ONE Sleep Aid, and a great mineral for sleep.
So, how does supplementing Magnesium help you to get a better night’s sleep?
It’s all down to how the mineral works with your central nervous system. Magnesium can help relax nervous impulses across your muscles over night.
The benefit of this is that it helps to reduce any twitches and jerks you may do during your sleep. This means that you’re less likely to move in your sleep and twitch yourself awake.
The result is that you can enjoy longer, undisturbed sleep.
L-Theanine
This isn’t an ingredient in PRIMAL ONE Sleep Aid that directly promotes sleep – but it can be of some use.
L-Theanine is an all natural amino acid that you’ll typically find in herbs like Green Tea.
If it doesn’t directly promote sleep, what does it do?
It can help improve calmness and relaxation. L-Theanine can also boost your levels of the hormone GABA which reduces anxiety.
The amino acid is great for getting your mood and mindset ready for sleep. Which is incredibly useful for when you get into bed.
Lemon Balm
PRIMAL ONE Sleep Aid did well to put Lemon Balm in here.
Lemon Balm was once claimed to help promote cognition and focus in the nootropics industry. Unfortunately, it fell under a lot scrutiny and studies showed that it didn’t do much when it came to promoting cognition.
However, what they did find is that Lemon Balm is good for improving calmness, relaxation and reducing stress. It doesn’t directly put you to sleep by doing this, but it’s another ingredient in this supplement that gets you in the right mindset to drift off.
It’s a good addition in here, and should help make you more relaxed to make it easier to drift off.
Rutaecarpine
This is an ingredient in PRIMAL ONE Sleep Aid that was selected with good intentions, but does not have the studies to support it yet.
Rutaecarpine is a nutrient that is used in sleep supplements that has claims to reduce the effects of caffeine.
This is great because it can help to lower the effects of the stimulant in your system, and make it easier for you to go to sleep.
What’s the problem?
It’s only been seen to work in animal studies. There’s no proof of it working in human testing. Further research is needed to know for sure if it will work for you.
Until then, we can’t say if it will deliver the effects that you are looking for. Human studies are needed to see if these effects scale up.
Melatonin
The final ingredient in PRIMAL ONE Sleep Aid. Melatonin is good for sleep. It’s actually the hormone your brain releases to signal to your body that it’s time to go to sleep.
Supplementing it can help increase your overall levels and help you to get to sleep at a faster rate.
The only thing we would say here is that we have no confirmation that the melatonin in this supplement is natural.
This is a common problem in the sleep supplement industry. A lot of companies use artificial melatonin because it is more accessible and cheaper than the real thing.
Natural melatonin may be more effective and may get you better results. A better option for PRIMAL ONE Sleep Aid to avoid any doubt would be to use Montmorency Tart Cherries. They contain natural supply of melatonin and would ensure that your body gets the real thing.
Ingredient Summary
There are some good ingredients in PRIMAL ONE Sleep Aid to help you.
The melatonin and the magnesium, however are the clear winners here. The majority of the other ingredients either don’t have the human studies to support them (Rutaecarpine) or only help mood and mindset.
There’s still some confusion over whether or not the melatonin in here is natural. We think we have a solution for PRIMAL ONE which may help: use Montmorency Tart Cherry instead. It contains natural melatonin which ensures you’re getting the real thing.
We also think adding L-Tryptophan to this supplement would help too. Your body converts it into serotonin, and then into melatonin – which again gets you more of the good stuff.
Is PRIMAL ONE Sleep Aid safe to use?
It appears to be, the ingredients in here don’t have links to side effects at these dosages. We haven’t heard any reports either of anyone having a bad time from taking PRIMAL ONE Sleep Aid.
You have to accept that everyone reacts differently though. We believe if you want to be safe that you should check with your doctor before taking it.
PRIMAL ONE Sleep Aid Summary
This sleep aid does have some benefits that can contribute towards a better night’s sleep. It mainly helps by tuning your mood and mindset to something that primes you into a more ‘sleep-ready’ mental state.
However, we do think this supplement could benefit by adding a few more things to it. A confirmed natural source of melatonin would be nice, and L-Tryptophan would be a great precursor too.
It’s good, but room for improvement is definitely still there.
