What is Bromantane?
Bromantane (C16H20BrN / c17-14-1-3-15), known under the brand name Ladasten, it is an atypical psychostimulant and anxiolytic drug from the adamantane family related to amantadine and memantine. It is currently used in Russia for the treatment of “neurasthenia”.
Neurasthenia is a medical condition which involves fatigue, insomnia, headache, irritability, lassitude and is often linked to emotional disturbance. It is believed to be an imbalance of the autonomic nervous system.
Bromantane has been seen to help people with the condition sleep better, as well as well as optimize their brain’s alpha waves. Subjects with high alpha waves had more low-beta waves and lowered high-beta waves, while the reverse was the case in those with low alpha waves.
Bromantane was actually invented in the 1980s by Russian scientists. The aim was to create a drug which improved the performance of workers while under pressure and environmental stressors. It is dervied from adamantane (C10H16) which was invented in 1967 and used to treat anything from the flu to Parkinson’s disease
Bromantane was seen to greatly improve focus and motivation both physically and mentally.
The drug works as a nootropic by greatly increasing the activity in your hippocampus by supporting the production of dopamine an serotonin.
People that use it in a nootropic stack claim it boosts energy, coordination, concentration and even reduces anxiety.
Quick Questions we always get asked:
Bromantane Australia: Can you get it down under?
Amazingly, yes. Despite how harsh Australia can be on nootropics, there are several websites which do sell Bromantane. However, most of the time they are sold under the guise of ‘for research purposes’.
Bromantane UK: Can you buy it in Britain?
Yes. Bromantane buy UK is something that you can do. There are a few vendors that sell it online that may be able to help get it to you.
Is it available in the United States?
Bromantane is available to purchase in the US. However, due to some legal requirements it is strictly marketed with the note ‘not for human consumption’.
What is Bromantane used for?
Bromantane is primarily used for its nootropic benefits for household uses outside of the medical field.
It has been seen in numerous tests to improve both physical and mental performance – leading it to be one of the smart drugs of choice for students and biohacking enthusiasts.
By improving physical performance and mental performance gives bromantane incredible appeal to students as it can increase stamina to keep hitting the books for longer for both your brain and your body.
Other benefits noted is in laboratory animals is that it may work as an antidepressant as well as increase sexual receptivity, proceptivity and general sex drive.
Although it has a lot of benefits aside from physical and mental boosts (e.g. sex drive), you should still be careful when it comes to human consumption of bromantane. It is currently a banned substance in sporting competitions due to both the unfair advantages it may deliver and the potential side effects that may follow with it.
Bromantane Stack
There are numerous Bromantane stacks out there which you can try to help improve your experience when using this nootropic.
For example a stack for general health stimulation, mood and motivation while decreasing anxiety may be:
- Bromantante
- Agamatine
- Kava Kava
- Acetyl-L-Carnitine
- Fish Oil
Whereas a stack for more alertness, wakefulness and physical performance may include:
- Bromantane
- Citalopram
- Clomipramine
- Liothyronine
- Agomelatine
As always though, we highly suggest that you speak to your doctor before taking Bromantane or any high-level nootropics to help minimize side effects and improve general effectiveness with use.
Side Effects
With synthetic nootropics like bromantane – we don’t suggest you use them wthout consultation from a doctor.
Bromantane itself is very under-researched when it comes to studies referencing the side effects of the drug.
The main results have only been seen in lab mice when they were given an exceptionally high dose, in which the experimental animals demonstrated:
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Insomnia
Whereas human evidence is more anecdotal with people reporting:
- Brain Fog
- Fatigue
- Depression
- Confusion
When taking too much of a high dose of 1000 mg or more. It’s recommended that most people use 100 mg of bromantane to see the best results at the safest levels.
That said it is thought to be non-addictive and non-habit forming. However, a lot more research is needed to confirm this.
Bromantane Erowid
Erowid, also known as Erowid Experience Vaults – is a website that catalogs and collects various experiences people have had with psychoactive plants and chemicals.
This is usually the go-to website to read about personal experiences with these types of drugs. Unfortunately, Bromantane is only mentioned in passing on Erowid as one user recants that it’s one of the nootropics that they have tried in the past.
To our knowledge there is no full write up / summary of any personal experiences with Bromantane on the Erowid website.
Bromantane Sublingual
Can you take Bromantane under the tongue? (sublingual) – It is difficult but it can be done.
There are various conversations on Reddit and other forums on methods of how to do this, however the most effective approach appears to be to dissolve the bromantane in olive oil.
It’s more soluble in the fat, which allows it to be an easier single treatment to absorb via sublingual methods. This is apparently one of the better ways to get the full effects via this methods.
“Take 1-2 ml olive oil (no more) and 25-100 mg Bromantane (whichever dosage you prefer) then warm it in the microwave for a while, you need the glass really hot. The glass will heat up before the oil. (It did for me, atleast.)
Then when you’ve got hot oil and your dose, just spend 10-60minutes mixing it until it’s dissolved. Crush the excess crystals that are too big to dissolve on their own, and swirl some more. Takes a while but it does dissolve completely if you give it time, heat and mixing.
Oh and yes, it does work. Effects come on very fast, in 10-20 minutes.” – KJVFTW, Reddit.
If you’re looking for sublingual consumption of bromantane – this is the method.
Bromantane Solubility
Bromantane is easily soluble in acetone, dioxane, diethyl ether, and choloform. Soluble in hexane. Slightly soluble in ethanol (produces toxic ethylbromides). Insoluble in water.
This is why many are choosing the olive oil method. It is soluble via the fat in the olive oil and makes it easier to consume. Some have tried butter – but it is far more difficult to take 100 mg of bromantane that way.
Bromantane ADHD
Although Bromantane may seem like a good option for ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) with its drug-level effects to boost focus and physical performance – it’s important to note that there is currently no studies out there to support its use as treatment for the condition.
It is only hypothesized to help ADHD, whether it does or not offer positive effects is yet to be observed in scientific study be it on rat brain or human brain.
You should always talk to your doctor before treating ADHD with a drug like this. We are not medical experts, you need an opinion from someone who is.
Bromantane vs Modafinil
Modafinil and Bromantane are for totally difference purposes.
Historically Modafinil has been prescribed to help treat conditions such as narcolepsy and fatigue, namely due to how potent the drug is for increasing wakefulness and focus. It is mainly for increasing brain energy, wakefulness and alertness. It’s a massive brain stimulant.
Bromantane on the other hand is much more mild by comparision. It helps both mental and physical tasks by giving both a boost. However, it’s not as potent, and anecdotally much more pleasant and less jittery.
Modafinil is more for if you’re needed to stay awake and focused for long periods of time. Bromantane helps more if you are more physically exhausted and need to recover quickly.
However, it’s worth noting that both these drugs both haven’t been around for very long and both lack long-term study. Meaning they could cause side effects down the road. These are still dangerous drugs when abused and you should consult with your doctor before taking them for their desired effects.
Bromantane vs Adderall
Adderall is a trade name for a drug made up of four amphetamine salts. It is equal parts racemic amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, which produces a ratio between dextroamphetamine and levoamphetamine, the two enantiomers of amphetamine.
You can also find it under the names Adderall XR and Mydayis.
One of the major differences between Adderall and Bromantane is that Adderall can have a huge impact on your sleep – and not in a good way. One of the side effects of using adderall is that it can cause insomnia.
Adderall and Bromantane can both improve physical and mental performance except adderall is much more potent. On top of this, Adderall is linked to causing much more severe side effects.
Adderalll is linked to causing nervousness, dizziness, restlessness, headache, stomach ache, decreased appetite, insomnia, raised heart rate and more.
It’s not an ideal choice for a nootropic. Bromantane is safer, but still poses risks of it’s own.
