While Arrested Development has many, many inside and on-going jokes, there are many references to Charlie Brown and Peanuts. Here are 9 of them.
The Charlie Brown Walk.
It appears in season two and throughout the rest of the series. We see George Michael, George Sr., GOB, and Tobias Fünke do sad and sullen walk when they are heartbroken or sad.
“Christmastime Is Here.”
The Charlie Brown Walk always almost accompanied with the song from Vince Guaraldi Trio. Michael Bluth does the Charlie Brown walk too in season four when George Michael and P-Hound kick him out of their dorm room.
Franklin Delano Bluth.
GOB’s puppet Franklin is named after Franklin for Peanuts
“You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown.”
In season four, Tobias mentions that his favorite musical and the reason why he wanted to be an actor was the stage show “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown.”
Man Junk. Buster references his (and other men’s) privates parts Charlie Browns and Linus.
“Good Grief.”
There’s an episode titled “Good Grief.” It’s actually my favorite episode of the entire series and involved George Sr.’s fake funeral.
Tumbleweed.
In season four, a tumbleweed blows into the model home’s kitchen because the new housing development is a ghost town. Michael tries to kick it, but keeps missing it. It’s just like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football, but Lucy keeps pulling it away from him.
Snoopy.
When you see George Michael doing the Charlie Brown walk for the first time, you can see a beagle sleeping on a red doghouse.
Out.
When George Michael leaves the banana stand, he places a sign that reads “The Frozen Banana Maker is Out,” which is a reference to Lucy’s psychiatric help stand.
